2. Enrollment Procedure and expectations:

The Homestead Academy offers flexible enrollment of 1-3 days per week in 7-week session blocks. Our session dates for the 2026-2027 school year are as follows:

Session 1: August 10 - September 28, 2026 (no class Sept 7, make up Sept 28th)
Session 2: October 5th-November 18, 2026
WINTER BREAK / HOLIDAY BREAK Nov 23-Jan 6 (we plan to hold an optional holiday drop-off week in December watch for dates.)
Mini Session: New Year STEAM Labs Jan 11th-20th 2027
Session 3: January 25th - March 10th, 2026
Spring break : March 15-24, 2027
Session 4: April 5 - May 12, 2027
Classes are listed first by Session Number then by Day of the Week (Session 1, Monday; Session 1, Tuesday, Session 1, Wednesday; Session 2, Monday, etc) Enroll by Session AND by Day of the Week listing.

Curriculum vs Homestead Project work.

Each day of the week will feature different CURRICULUM - actual lessons and progress in a given subject (zoology, botany, youth market projects, culinary, archery, BB rifles, etc). Lessons pertaining to THAT day's curriculum will continue to following WEEK. Any craft, project or work pertaining specifically to their curriculum WILL wait for them the following week.

Each session The Homestead Academy will have various larger scale HOMESTEAD PROJECTS to be done. These project vary widely from building greenhouses and animal habitats, to planting and harvest times, from market preparations to cleaning and preparing gear for the next season. Project work usually can NOT wait a week to be finished. For example, if we're expecting new animal arrivals in that week, ALL preparations to receive the animals must be in place before the animals arrive. Some projects allow for students to attend an extra day to experience a special event. The arrival of new animals is always a special time and open to ALL students no matter which day they arrive.

To "get the most" out of The Homestead Academy experience, we suggest attending at least two days per week, however, we're certain each day at The Homestead Academy will bring it's own joys and learning experiences.

4. Our Fees are "all inclusive" and provide all supplies necessary (except for personal gear list provided in FAQ section). Should a special opportunity arise for our students that is outside our pre set rate, parents will be contacted about the opportunity and, as a group, will decide if it is within our means to participate. Under such conditions, we set an "all or no one" standard for participation.

All fees are due two-weeks prior to the start date of the session.

Fees are NON REFUNDABLE two-weeks prior to the start date.

Unpaid accounts are subject to losing their seat to wait listed families once the two-week deadline is passed.

If enrolling less than two-weeks prior to the start date or after the first day of classes, fees are due immediately.

5. Refund Policy:

All fees are non-refundable two-weeks prior to the session start date. Refunds cannot be given for tardiness or missed classes by the student. If your family is experiencing extreme circumstances, please communicate early and often for options.

Canceled Classes:

IF The Homestead Academy needs to cancel a class/session for any reason (dangerous weather, homestead emergencies, contagious illness in the home, etc), families will be alerted immediately via BAND APP, email, and TEXT alerts the moment a cancellation has been made. The following options will then be available:

Families may choose to attend another day of the week/session equal to the days canceled.
Families may choose to attend a "specially scheduled" make-up session.
Families may choose to credit the pro-rated amount towards a future session.
Families may choose to have their card refunded for the pro-rated amount LESS transaction fees or receive a refund check. CASH refunds will not be given.
REFUNDS CAN NOT be issued to EFA Families for a "SINGLE DAY" cancellation. Families must choose to either attend another day, attend a make up class, credit forward to another session, or forfeit the fees. Unfortunately, the refund process is too timely, costly, and laborious on the vendor side to make this option reasonable for a SINGLE day. If multiple days are canceled within a session, and the family wishes to have a refund processed, we WILL proceed with the refund process in Class Wallet. Refunds are subject to Class Wallet/EFA Time Lines and a refund date cannot be guaranteed by The Homestead Academy. Processing fees apply, though we do not know what those fees are at this time, just that they exist as of July 2025. Please contact Class Wallet with any further questions or concerns.

6. EFA/LEARNS Act Funding. Will you be using EFA funds to pay session fees for this student?

The Homestead Academy understands there are altered pay outs and schedules that do not conform with standard school schedules and will adapt payment due dates accordingly. HOWEVER, in the event that EFA falls behind in processing, families are responsible for ensuring their bill is paid in a timely manner. Current session fees MUST be paid before enrolling in additional sessions. Please submit payment requests immediately upon enrollment to help ensure payments settle within 30-days. Where possible, please use the reimbursement option with EFA. Yes, I will be using EFA funds for this student.

REQUIRED PERSONAL GEAR: Please clearly label all personal gear. We cannot supply each student with "everything" they may want or need for a work day. Please ensure your student(s) have the following available as they will NOT be provided:

5-gallon bucket with LID that doubles as a seat. We suggest gamma lids that screw on or SEAT tops made for buckets, but standard lids are acceptable. Your student is encouraged to keep their tools and changes of clothes, towels, etc at the homestead to help minimize daily packing for YOU and ensure they have their basics on site. Please be sure they are SEALABLE /SNUG LIDS so "creepy crawlies" don't make their way inside and are waterproof. They may be stored in sheds, garages or under the deck.
Sack Lunch. Please provide your student with lunch each day.
Spill Proof water bottle. Preferably one that can stay in their 5-gallon bucket. Washed daily.
Dairy boots or other heavy duty outdoor shoes that are waterproof with tread./anti slip. We'll be in/on/around the creek, pond, and animal cages and in THORNY WOODLANDS. Protect your feet!
Tennis shoes that can be destroyed. Bare feet are permitted around the immediate house. Shoes are required in all wooded areas until we reach pre-cleared areas/creek side, even then, shoes or sandals/water shoes are recommended.
Heavy duty RAIN GEAR. Rain coats, ponchos, etc are all fine. Unless there is danger of lightning, we go outside EVERYDAY, rain or shine for at-least part of our lessons.
Dress for the weather and have appropriate gear to stay warm and dry. You may bring "as needed" or store/rotate gear in their 5-gallon bucket.
WORK GLOVES. We'll have some extras around, but find a pair or two your child is comfortable in for gardening and handling wood and tools. Put their NAME on them, keep them in their 5-gallon bucket.
Optional, but recommended: HAT for sun and bug protection.
Provide bug spray and sunscreen. We will NOT put any substance on your child if it is not provided.
Large tape lint roller. We use these for TICK CHECKS. Refill as needed.
Winter clothing - as applicable. Watch the weather and send hats, gloves, warm layers as needed.
A COMPLETE change of clothes, remember underwear & socks! Keep a change of clothes in your 5-gallon bucket. We WILL get dirty and likely wet. Students may wish to change after some messy encounters. Do not wear or send clothes that can't get dirty/wet/stained or otherwise, completely destroyed.
A beach towel.
We'll do laundry onsite DAILY to keep changes of clothes and towels ready for the next class. Any clothing intended to kept on site will get washed in the daily loads. LABEL EVERYTHING.
Buckets MUST go home at the end of each session. Clean them, update/replinish items, and bring them back for the next session.
Other personal needs - allergy medication, inhalers, epi pens, etc. Please ensure your student has any personal items onsite and knows how to use them.

Payment Instructions

Session Fees are due IN FULL 2 weeks prior to your session start date or immediately upon registration if enrolling less than 2 weeks from The start date. All fees are NON REFUNDABLE once classes have begun.

Registration fees are annual and priced per student enrolled. Adjust quantities.

EFA - please submit invoices in a timely manner as EFA tends to pay LATE. Families are encouraged to register ahead of time to allow EFA direct pay adequate time to process payments.

It is preferred that families use the reimbursement option for registration fees to allow our initial cash flow/budgets to establish. EFA does NOT always cover program registration fees.

Families understand that fees are due dispite EFA approvals.
